Attention small business owners and entrepreneurs! Are you proud of the business that you’ve built? Are you willing to share your success story with potential entrepreneurs in your area who may need some encouragement to get started? Do you really believe in The American Dream?
AMA has received a contract from the U.S. Department of Labor to produce three television programs to be presented across the country on the Public Broadcasting System. The programs will deal with the how, why, and wherefore of starting your own business.
Allan Ferrin, a senior vice-president of AMA and a member of S.A.M.’s board of directors, is heading up the project and would like to tap one of the best sources available of successful entrepreneurs and small businesspeople -The Society for Advancement of Management.
People are needed who are involved in the management of small businesses and who can generate interest in their area by talking about the realities of self-employment.
The small business has always been the basis of The American Dream. But perhaps “dream” is not the best word to use. Being your own boss, as many members of S.A.M. already know, need not remain just a dream. The possibilities for starting your own business are endless-but one cannot begin such a venture without some basic facts behind him or her. And that is where this project comes into the picture. It is de- signed, not only to encourage entrepreneurship, but more importantly to educate. You can help by acting as a spokesperson locally for the project, which will include not only the television specials but booklets and a telephone “hot Iine.” SAM-NI
