While president of S.A.M., Jack McGuinness, now chairman of the board, had an opportunity to get S.A. M.’s name before the top executives attending the International Congress of Actuaries in Zurich. McGuinness pre­sented a Paul Revere pitcher and two Thomas Jefferson mugs to the Swiss Actuarial Association, which was cele­brating its 75th anniversary. McGuinness chose the pieces for their association with the American Revolution, “which exhibited the same spirit as that of Wil­liam Tell,” in McGuinness’s words.
