The Society for Advancement of Management is proud to recognize Florida State University as the first-place recipient in the Small Chapter Division of the 2025 Campus Chapter Performance Program. Under the dedicated guidance of Chapter Advisor Bob Garner, FSU’s SAM chapter demonstrated exceptional leadership, consistent engagement, and a heartfelt commitment to community service throughout the academic year.

The chapter, composed of twelve active student members, entered the year with a strong foundation led by returning seniors Sarah Walker and Olivia O’Hay. Their leadership ensured a smooth transition and set the tone for another year of meaningful impact both on campus and in the greater Tallahassee community.

From the very beginning of the academic year, FSU SAM members wasted no time stepping up to serve. They supported a wide variety of local outreach initiatives, including the Manna Food Pantry, Project Tallahassee, and Good News Outreach events. Through recurring participation, chapter members formed strong relationships with local volunteers, reflecting the chapter’s values of service, consistency, and community connection.

The chapter also partnered with the Maryland Oaks Crossing housing community and participated in the Bradfordville Baptist Church’s Trunk or Treat event, contributing their time and energy to make each gathering a success. Their efforts did not stop there. The students played key roles in FSU’s College of Entrepreneurship “7 Under 30” event, helped paint a reentry house for formerly incarcerated individuals, and organized a clothing drive to support the reopening of a community clothes closet.

A highlight of the year was the annual holiday gift wrapping party, where chapter members wrapped and prepared approximately 50 presents for the Big Bend Boys and Girls Club. Thanks to the generosity of alumni and local supporters, including a donation of 100 pairs of socks from Mitch Nelson of Divvy Up Sock Company, the event brought holiday joy to many local children.

Beyond community engagement, the FSU chapter actively recruited new members during college orientation events and maintained a consistent presence throughout the year. This commitment to excellence and camaraderie has become a hallmark of FSU’s SAM chapter culture.

The Society for Advancement of Management congratulates Florida State University on this well-deserved honor and applauds the chapter for modeling the principles of sound management, leadership, and service.
