Organizations often lose time, money, and talent due to outdated and inconsistent hiring practices. Subjective approaches such as unstructured interviews, intuition-led decisions, and contrast bias frequently undermine fairness and result in poor hiring outcomes. This accepted presentation examines how evidence-based management can be used to improve the effectiveness, equity, and consistency of organizational hiring processes.
This research explores how managers can strengthen hiring decisions by replacing traditional methods with evidence-based practices grounded in data and validated assessment techniques. Through qualitative interviews with industry professionals, the study identifies common hiring trends and evaluates their objective effectiveness. These findings are then compared with broader global research to determine which practices lead to better outcomes.
Results indicate that structured and standardized interviews, competency-based assessments, and skill-focused testing significantly reduce turnover and improve organizational well-being. By focusing on job-related competencies and demonstrated ability, managers can select candidates based on evidence rather than assumption or bias. The research suggests that evidence-based hiring practices not only promote fairness but also create more efficient and cost-effective hiring systems.
This presentation offers practical insights for managers, educators, and organizational leaders seeking to modernize hiring strategies and reduce bias while improving overall workforce quality.
