As expectations around ethical leadership, transparency, and social impact continue to rise, Corporate Social Responsibility has evolved from a peripheral initiative into a strategic imperative. This accepted student research presentation examines how emotional intelligence and diversity play a critical role in strengthening CSR efforts and embedding social responsibility into organizational culture.
Grounded in qualitative analysis of academic literature and real-world case studies, the research highlights how emotionally intelligent leaders and inclusive organizations are better positioned to design, implement, and sustain meaningful CSR initiatives. Emotional intelligence enhances ethical decision-making, trust, and stakeholder engagement, while diversity across gender, culture, and perspective improves creativity, governance, and Environmental, Social, and Governance performance. Together, these elements reinforce CSR as a long-term value driver rather than a short-term branding exercise.
The presentation explores how CSR is most effective when integrated into the fabric of organizational culture through leadership behavior and inclusive practices. Case examples such as Patagonia and Ben & Jerry’s illustrate how high-EQ leadership and diversity-conscious strategies can generate reputational value, strengthen employee engagement, and build lasting trust with communities and consumers. The research also introduces hypotheses for future study that connect inclusive work environments and transformational leadership styles to stronger CSR outcomes.
Designed for scholars and practitioners in organizational behavior, leadership, and strategic management, this session reframes CSR as a leadership competency shaped by emotional intelligence and diversity. Attendees will gain research-backed insights into how organizations can align internal culture with stakeholder values while advancing ethical, social, and financial performance.
