The Society for Advancement of Management is proud to recognize Stephen F. Austin State University (SFASU) as the first-place winner in the Large Chapter Division of the 2025 Campus Chapter Performance Program. This prestigious recognition celebrates the chapter’s outstanding commitment to leadership, community involvement, and professional development throughout the 2024 to 2025 academic year.
Under the leadership of Chapter President Josselyn Acosta and Faculty Advisor Dr. Gina Harden, SFASU’s SAM Chapter has cultivated a vibrant and engaged community of student leaders. Through a variety of initiatives, including hands-on workshops, fundraising events, corporate visits, and community service, the chapter has demonstrated what it means to advance management through action and impact.
The chapter’s programming this year was both ambitious and meaningful. From resume and LinkedIn workshops to career-readiness sessions with guest speakers, SFASU offered a wide range of learning opportunities that supported the professional growth of its members. Notably, the chapter hosted events like “Elevate Your Career” and “Enhance Your Professional Skills,” providing members with the confidence and tools to navigate internships and full-time job opportunities.
SFASU’s SAM members also demonstrated strong teamwork and preparation through their participation in the 2025 SAM Case Competition in Tallahassee, Florida. Both undergraduate and upper-level student teams represented the university with professionalism and insight, continuing the chapter’s legacy of competitive excellence.
Beyond academics, the chapter gave back to the community. They coordinated a food pantry donation drive supporting Nacogdoches Community HOPE, reinforcing the SAM value of socially responsible leadership. Their popular fundraising bake sales and partnerships with local businesses also helped raise funds while building community visibility.
Social engagement remained a key part of the chapter’s culture, with events like bowling night, holiday dinners, and student carnivals bringing members together and creating lasting memories.
