Presentation Announcement Slide More Than a Building: Applying DMAIC to University Housing

The programming committee for the 78th Annual SAM International Business Conference is pleased to announce the acceptance of the presentation More Than a Building: Applying DMAIC to University Housing by Faith Fox, Dylan Mofield, Adam Barnes, Jed Oyler and Garrett Presko from the University of Evansville.

Presentation Abstract: Applying DMAIC to the issue of university housing will help administrators to better understand the current issues. Through a series of interviews, we look at the underlying problem within university housing and apply DMAIC to look at solutions. This project would help enhance the university and its operations for the long term. Housing is one of the many vital aspects in terms of attracting and retaining students at a university. The university has older housing that does not compare to other universities in terms of housing that is unique and newer. Projects such as these have the opportunity to drastically increase funding through alumni donations and allocating sufficient funds from the existing university budget to support undertakings such as improving housing.
The scope is a campus wide revamp and analysis of housing that is offered to students. This project would affect all students that live on campus to improve existing maintenance, create and draft plans to support proper upkeep of new facilities. This project would also extend out to prospective students as well as attracting alumni donations for the initiative.
