Presentation Announcement Slide for Current College Student's Perception of Inclusivity in the Workplace

The programming committee for the 78th Annual SAM International Business Conference is pleased to announce the acceptance of the presentation Current College Student’s Perception of Inclusivity in the Workplace by Michelle Region-Sebest and Heidi Batiste from Nevada State College.

Presentation Abstract: Research suggests that there are differences in how various groups in American society view diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. The purpose of this research is to capture the insights from a 2023 survey of college students attending a small state college in the southwestern United States, to explore their expectations for inclusivity upon entering the workforce. This research examines differences among groups of students based on demographic data in three areas: (1) gender, (2), race, and (3) age, to uncover whether students rate noted characteristics of inclusivity as an important aspect of a future employer’s workplace. Such insights provide an opportunity to explore whether future employees’ needs are consistent with current inclusivity programs. Furthermore, there will be implications for changes to existing diversity, equity, and inclusion programs based on incoming workforce beliefs.
