Presentation slide for A Student-Centered Teaching Approach to Innovatively Engaging Generation Z

The programming committee for the 78th Annual SAM International Business Conference is pleased to announce the acceptance of the presentation A Student-Centered Teaching Approach to Innovatively Engaging Generation Z by Jack McCann, Daryl Green, and Tracy Dunn from Purdue Global University, Oklahoma Baptist University and Benedict College.

Presentation Abstract: Today’s educational institutions need to produce greater learning outcomes for this generation of students. Universities can achieve better student outcomes with a shift to a student-centered strategy. With the ongoing impacts of disruptive changes, colleges and universities must make significant changes in order to recruit and retain this generation of students. Gen Z are the most global, diverse, and deliberate generation of all times. In this research, methods to engage Gen Z students and how to leverage business simulations to produce greater learner outcomes will be examined. Most students can benefit from practical application of theory. With that said, educators need to fully understand this generation of students to better engage them in learning. This article examines the traits of today’s generation of students to provide recommendations on how administrators and faculty can better engage Generation Z for greater student outcomes. The results of this research are significant and can better assist administrators, faculty, and practitioners on how to inject innovative thinking in order to produce sustainability education for current and future students.
