The programming committee for the 78th Annual SAM International Business Conference is pleased to announce the acceptance of the presentation Lessons in Supply Chain Management from COVID-19 by Ian Laessig, Lauryn Male, and Jessica Gacsi from Bloomsburg University.

Presentation Abstract: Consequences related to the COVID-19 pandemic have continued to impact the formulation of strategy within the world of business. Specifically, the effects of the pandemic on supply chain operations have been felt by consumers across the globe. The fragility of our global supply chain network has been exposed as businesses struggle to mitigate the far-reaching effects the pandemic has had on society. Supply chain networks were not prepared for the crisis situation present during the pandemic and have not recovered since. As buyers today are still encountering various shortages for needed products, the necessity for a more sustainable supply chain is more significant than ever. Global supply chain networks must have more viable solutions to ensure a crisis in the future does not cause such a grand disruption. The objective behind this research corresponds with the exploration of the turbulent connection between the COVID-19 pandemic and the current state of the supply chain. In an effort to gain a more suitable understanding of our global supply chain, this investigation explores the repercussions of COVID-19 on the supply chain network; additionally, this research includes an examination of the recent developments associated with supply chain management procedures. Factors surrounding these subjects ultimately lead to the revelation of possibilities for enhancing the sustainability of the supply chain in the future.
