Managing Creative Processes in a Sea of Routine Work: Insights into Teaching Creativity to Students and Working Professionals

The programming committee for the 77th Annual SAM International Business Conference is pleased to announce the acceptance of the presentation Managing Creative Processes in a Sea of Routine Work: Insights into Teaching Creativity to Students and Working Professionals, authored by Jared Cook and Jack Cook of Doane University and SUNY Brockport.

Presentation Abstract: This paper defines what is meant by creativity. It compares and contrasts existing creative process models. It defines a generic creative process using Andragogy and Transformational Leadership, and then applies it specifically to student learning and training development. In addition, it provides, most importantly, recommendations for how to better manage the creative process using educational simulations as a case study. It describes variables that nurture a creative process within an organization, where one of the organization’s objectives is to be profitable. This paper is designed to assist all those individuals who have both creative as well as more routine and structured aspects to their work, and those who supervisor and collaborate with others in creative endeavors.
