This year at SAMIBC2020 we are pleased to announce another of our presenters, Mary Lebens from Metropolitan State University. Mary will be presenting Using Agile Methodology to Increase Student Collaboration.

Presentation Abstract: Do you want to improve student engagement and collaboration in your courses? Agile is a cutting-edge methodology that enables organizations to master continuous innovation. This workshop explains how professors can use the innovative Agile practices of stand-up meetings and code reviews as a forum for students to exchange feedback on their work, either in-person or online. Using stand-up meetings and code reviews encourages positive collaboration between students and empowers them to succeed at challenging projects. Engaging students in Agile practices not only increases collaboration, but also exposes students to this innovative management methodology. The workshop includes hands-on activities to help professors learn Agile concepts to apply in their courses. The target audience for this workshop is university professors in a business discipline. No technology is required. This workshop is facilitated by Dr. Mary Lebens, who is a Management Information Systems (MIS) faculty member at Metropolitan State University. Dr. Lebens has taught MIS courses using the Agile methodology for over ten years, primarily in software development. In addition, she worked as a software engineer and team lead for over 13 years at Oracle and other Minneapolis-based organizations. She holds a doctorate in Business Administration with an emphasis in Economics and Finance, as well as masters’ degrees in MIS and Computer Science.
