This year at SAMIBC2020 we are pleased to announce another of our presenters, Kamala Raghavan from Texas Southern University. Kamala will be presenting Ransomware threat and suggested cyber defense steps.

Presentation Abstract: Organizations across the globe are facing a growing threat of cyberattacks and escalating ransom demands with the attacks crippling their systems and costing them time and money in getting back to normal state. Governments and public institutions are large targets with vulnerable technology assets and weak security as compared to the corporate sector. These organizations operate in a network of connected information systems out of necessity, but are generally less prepared than corporations to combat breaches due to limited cybersecurity talent and software resources. In addition, they are relying increasingly on technology to deliver services to stakeholders to cut costs, but using outdated computer systems. This paper discusses recent incidents, and offers some critical preventive steps.

Join us in Nashville, Tennessee to see this great paper and many more March 19 – 21, 2020. For registration information visit www.samnational.org/conference.
