This year at SAMIBC2020 we are pleased to announce another of our presenters, Hasan Kartal from the University of Illinois Springfield. Hasan will be presenting Monetizing Privacy: A Model for the Objective Assessment of Financial Value of Personal Data.

Presentation Abstract: In the data privacy literature, the monetary valuation of individual privacy is established around survey-based bidding models, scenario-based econometric analyses, and theory-based models of determining how much people are willing to pay for their privacy. Such studies are primarily are focused on collecting individual data at an optimal cost. This study focuses on allowing organizations to share privacy-protected individual data at an optimal cost considering both data quality cost and financial cost. This stage of the work is an attempt to create a model for evaluating the financial value of the personal data for organizations using the rigorous privacy protection mechanism, differential privacy.
