This year at SAMIBC2020 we are pleased to announce another of our presenters, Hangjun Xu from Union University. Hangjun will be presenting the paper It’s not just who you know, it’s what you know: The moderating role of network responsiveness capabilities on the nonlinear network range – performance relationship.
Presentation Abstract: This study examines and highlights the nature of the relationship between network range and new venture performance. Based on data from a time-lagged two-wave survey of 234 firms in an emerging economy, we firstly confirm the inverted U-shaped relationship between network range and new venture performance. Furthermore, we find that network responsiveness capabilities moderate the above proposed curvilinear relationship by integrating their strategic efforts to handle different environmental situations. Such findings may have important implications for practitioners to spend sufficient effort monitoring their firm’s network range and increase their network responsiveness to their smaller network to alleviate any strains they may have in this area.
