President of Schleh Associates, Inc. Business Analysts, of Palo Alto, California, Schleh has been a management consultant for both industry and government for the past 25 years. His company specializes in organizational planning, implementation of man- agement controls, and management compensation.

“Results management” is a realistic means for general management to in- tegrate the diverse activities of almost any type of organization. It involves advising top management in organization and management planning and in upgrading individual management performance. The process involves a complete study of the operations of a business, including administrative flow, cost build-up, and the control system used by management to identify problem areas that may block progress.

The “results” approach has been presented by Schleh in four books, the most recent, The Management Tactician, published by McGraw-Hill. Various facets of the “results” approach have been discussed in the 50 articles written by Schleh over the past 30 years for management publications including Management Review and S.A.M. Ad- vanced Management Journal. Schleh also authored a monograph titled “The ‘Results’ Approach to Organization,” that was included in S.A.M.’s Modern Management Treatise series. In addition to his consulting practice, Schleh is active in international management circles. He is a past director of the Council for International Progress in Management and has been a U.S. delegate to international management congresses sponsored by the International Committee of Scientific Management in Chile, France, Germany, Australia, and Japan.
