The newly-formed S.A.M. campus chapter at Emerson College (Boston) got off to a flourishing start when students, faculty, and guests packed the November 17 orientation meeting of the chapter. President Liz Temkin welcomed those who came, then introduced chapter officers and the speakers.

The first speaker, John Hornaday, S.A.M.’s Boston chapter vice-president, campus division, praised the large turnout of prospective members and encouraged students to join S.A.M. “Not only will this organization prepare you for the transition from college to your first post-college position,” said Hornaday, “but being a member will look good on your resume.”

James Albrecht, past president of the Boston chapter, focused on the many advantages of senior chapter membership, which will be open to active campus members after graduation: establishing contacts, exchanging ideas on management, and keeping up-to-date on a number of issues.

Al Briand, co-president of S.A.M. at Boston College, encouraged students to get involved in S.A.M.’s activities, for the organization offers the opportunity to practice decision making and motivation-two vital managerial functions.

The Emerson campus chapter has already started its own newsletter and is planning an internship program with community organizations to which S.A.M. members will have full access. SAM-NI
