Robin Schade, director of AMA’s Operation Enterprise, and Donald Begosh, S.A.M. executive director, recently reported that the special scholarship program jointly undertaken by S.A.M. and AMA scored a big success this past summer for the second year in a row. A total of eight student members attended OE with the backing of their chapters; the scholarships were open to qualified campus members for any one of the three college-level sessions held during the summer. The $495 scholarships covered all expenses (except transportation) and were awarded on a matching basis that is, an award was given only when the local chapter raised a matching $495 to send another student to OE.

Operation Enterprise is a series of unique, two-week-long programs where college students get the full story on management and leadership, as well as get an inside look into the dynamics of organizational life. At OE, students participate in a variety of exciting learning experiences, including simulations of real-life management problems and decision making, informal talks with highly qualified executives, and group “rap” sessions led by people with “know-why” as well as “know-how.” For information on next year’s OE scholarship program, contact Donald Begosh at S.A.M. headquarters.
