The original Hall of Fame for Great Americans, founded in New York City in 1900, will elect and induct another group of outstanding citizens in 1976. The S.A.M. Board of Directors has voted to sponsor Frederick Winslow Taylor, the father of scientific management, for induction at that time (which is also the 120th anniversary of his birth).
The Hall of Fame honors outstanding Americans from many fields of endeavor and includes statesmen, scientists, clergymen, and writers. The chances of election are influenced primarily by two factors: the achievements of the individual and the number of Americans who nominate him or her.

The S.A.M. Board has made arrangements to furnish to the Hall of Fame Board of Electors a suitable statement outlining Frederick Taylor’s achievements. These include not only the renowned motion-and-time and functional organization studies, but also more than 40 patents, the invention of high-speed steel (which more than doubled the rate at which metals could be machined), the development of specially improved putting greens and special grasses for them, a two-handled putter, and an improved tennis racket. Taylor was also U.S. tennis doubles champion in 1881. The item still missing in securing Taylor’s election to the Hall of Fame is a large number of individual nominations. We are therefore seeking the cooperation of every single member of S.A.M. toward meeting this need. There is a simple, printed nomination form below. We urge you to cut the coupon out, write your signature on the reverse side, insert it into an envelope, and mail it to the Hall of Fame for Great Americans, 2 Washington Square Village, New York, N.Y. 10012. We urge you to do this immediately so that it will not be forgotten.
We also urge you to enlist the similar support of your friends and business associates. If each S.A.M. member would send a dozen nominations and get as many of his or her associates as possible to send in their own nominations as well, the chances of electing Frederick Taylor will be excellent! So please start now to help us honor this distinguished American on whose work S.A.M.’s fundation was based. SAM-NI
